Con base en una descomposición contable del crecimiento basada en elasticidades, esta nota identifica el insuficiente dinamismo exportador y la inercia de una economía segmentada como razones centrales del lento crecimiento económico de México. Elevar el dinamismo de las exportaciones sin exacerbar fricciones proteccionistas requeriría una mayor orientación hacia productos novedosos o con demandas más elásticas. Esto implicaría un salto hacia la economía del conocimiento, una mayor exportación de servicios personales y un México más atractivo para las personas, es decir, colocar el fortalecimiento del Estado de derecho y la preservación del patrimonio ecológico y turístico en el centro de la agenda de política.
