| description | This article reviews Mexican research of female migration. An analysis is made of socio-demographic and anthropological studies that cover the relations between inequality among the genders, the causes and features of migration, and the work perfomed by female migrants in their places of origin and destination. The paper responds to the growing interest shown in international literature to migration in order to determine the influence of gender identity in the motivations and features of the migration of women, as well as the consequences of spatial mobility on their social conditions and theirs autonomy. By raising new questions about our current knowledge of the topic, the article advocates the need for a qualitative and multi-disciplinary approach in this topic. |

El artículo revisa la investigación realizada en México en torno a las migraciones femeninas. Examina los aportes de los estudios sociodemográficos y antropológicos sobre las relaciones entre desigualdades de género, causas y características de las migraciones e inserción laboral de las mujeres migrantes en los lugares de origen y destino. Responde al creciente interés que se manifiesta en la literatura internacional sobre migraciones por determinar tanto la influencia de la identidad de género en las motivaciones y características de las migraciones de mujeres como las consecuencias de la movilidad espacial para la condición social y la autonomía de esas mujeres. El trabajo señala nuevas interrogantes y necesidades de investigación que requieren un abordaje cualitativo e interdisciplinario del tema.
