總結:The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether there currently exists one or more subcenters that deconcentrate the commercial and service activities in the metropolitan area of Monterrey (MAM). The Nystuen and Dacey technique (which uses the theory of graphs for the identification of nodal regions) is applied, utilizing information from a survey on the points of origin and destination of passengers, undertaken in 1981 in this metropolitan area. The paper explains how the analysis technique has been utilized and it describes the results of its application. The conclusion is reached that all the zones into which MAM is divided are subordinate to the main center, which demonstrates that it is a very centralized city with one subcenter that is already consolidated and two other incipient ones. The paper concludes by affirming that the MAM finds itself in the process of a transition from a monocentric to a polycentric city a process that accompanies the physical, demographic and economic growth experienced by the city.
