El sismo del 19 de septiembre de 2017 tuvo importantes efectos económicos y sociales en Morelos, México, particularmente en la población vulnerable. En este trabajo se visibiliza la dificultad del Estado para prever y mitigar los efectos del sismo en dicho sector, con base en tres categorías: insumos de resiliencia, continuum de vulnerabilidad y continuum de búsqueda resiliente, las cuales describen la falta de apoyo estatal, la inestabilidad de los asentamientos y el correspondiente ajuste ante crisis emergentes, respectivamente. Para hacer un uso instrumental de dichas categorías, se revisan las políticas de mitigación y se caracteriza el funcionamiento del centro de acopio universitario de la Universidad Autónoma de Morelos.
