Description
Summary:The aim of this article is to explore the economic, social, familial and contextual factors concerning senior citizens in Mexico that predict the degree of support for social welfare institutions at this stage of life. After a brief historical follow-up of the formation and standards of these institutions as regards workers, the author presents a diagnosis of institutional accessibility for the population aged 60 and over in Mexico during the 1990s. The article ends with the results of a logistical regression model showing some of the factors linked to the current status of the elderly, as well as attributes that were configured during the course of their life cycle.
