Descripción
Sumario:In this article we analyze the effects produced by interethnic social interactions in gender relations of the Gypsy community in Quito. The interactions are the result of sedentarization processes, the transit to the houses and the adaptation to the dynamics of the city by the group since the end of the 20th century. These interactions respond to three orders: the affective-sex, the religious-pentecostal and the relational in commercial spaces, which have been studied from a qualitative methodology that has included participant observation and interviews. The results of the research show that the interactions end up favoring a panorama of unfavorable inequality for Gypsy women, which is not exempt, however, from contradictions and liberations gestated by the women themselves.
