A lo largo de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, Sudáfrica fue un tema de conversación constante entre la comunidad internacional y había un nombre en particular que era mencionado con gran frecuencia: Nelson Mandela. No obstante, pese a tanta atención que recibió Sudáfrica en ese entonces, hoy en día hay un gran desconocimiento en torno a ese país, su historia y Nelson Mandela, en lo que atañe a quién fue y cuál es el papel que desempeñó. Por tanto, el presente estudio se centra en la vida y el impacto de Nelson Mandela, a la vez que contextualiza su figura en la historia de Sudáfrica y el sistema del apartheid.
