Resumo:In East African nations such as Tanzania and Uganda there are discourses on death often carried on in artistic forms such as popular songs and orally transmitted stories. The same is true in certain areas of Mexico. The musi­cal and folk narratives of these areas, when placed in concord can teach us valuable lessons about the manner in which people develop strategies to understand both their place in the universe and to come to terms with their eventual disappearance from the physical, social worlds with which they are familiar.
