| 總結: | As stated in the 2020 Asia Pacific Yearbook report, Yoshihide Suga was elected as Japan’s prime minister, succeeding Shinzo Abe. Suga arrived to ensure stability and continuity in government and politics. In September 2020, Suga succeeded Abe with four major challenges: keeping the Covid-19 outbreak under control, getting the economy back on track, and holding the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Suga inherited, as a fourth point, the intensification of the conflict between the United States and China. In short, Suga began his administration with a whole series of problems that gradually worsened and that, in the end, ended up overwhelming him and forcing reactions of different kinds at the level of politics and society. Those four challenges are meticulously recounted in the Japanese context of 2022.
